Congratulations to Mirabella Leonard, Christopher George, and Hannah Morgan on earning the title of 'Drum Major' for the 2015-16 season. It was a very tough decision for Mr. Ford and myself, as there were 12 very qualified and prepared candidates. Thanks to all who put for the effort to try out, and for all you do to help make our band the best it can be.
Congratulations to all 33 MHS Band students selected for the 2015 ETSBOA All-East bands. 23 MHS and 10 MJHS students were selected for the honor. Special kudos to the following students who earned a chair in the 2015 Tennessee All-State Band: 11/12 Band: Shannon Frisco (flute), Sara Bowden (trombone), and Alex Douglas (percussion); 9/10 Band: Andrew Ashmore and Avery Sugg (clarinets), and Marley Profitt (bari sax). Jennifer Vorjohan (9/10 flute), Elya Philbrook (9/10 horn), and Sam Davis (9/10 Bass Clarinet) were selected as first alternates for All-State as well.
Congratulations to Christopher George (Trumpet) on being selected the All-East 'Blue' Jazz Band, and earning a chance to audition for the Tennessee All-State Jazz Band. In addition, Beth Bogart and Sara Bowden (Trombones) were selected for the 'Red' Band, and Emma Campbell (Bass Trombone) and Julian Gerdeman (Bari Sax) earned seats in the 'White' band. Kudos to Andy Bihl on being named 1st Alternate on Alto Sax.
Congratulations to the Red Rebel Band on your Superior performance at the Alcoa Marching competition on Sept. 27. Strong playing and great soloists again helped us really get the crowd into our show. Congratulations to our Drum Majors, Sara Bowden, Beau Branton, and Mirabella Leonard, on winning the 2nd place trophy in the large band class.
Thanks so much to all who worked countless hours making our 2014 MMI a success. Nothing but positive feedback from participating bands and judges.
On behalf of Mr. Ford and myself, it is a pleasure to work with such a dedicated group of parents and students.
We enjoyed our trip to the WBIR studios for our 'Band of the Week' performance. Here is a bit of footage from WBIR.
Current Events
HOME Football vs. Jefferson County
The Red Rebel Band will practice Friday afternoon from 3:45 to 5:00 to prepare for Homecoming and presenting our entire show at halftime. All MJHS eighth grade band students are invited to the game to join the MHS band in the stands and in forming the tunnel. Since it is an early release day, all band students should enter through the pass gate near the tennis courts (the same one the concessions workers use). A FREE 'Meal Deal' will be available after rehearsal for any interested students. We will be in our Summer uniforms for this game, which includes the 2015 Sound of Music shirt, khaki shorts or slacks, white or black socks, and tennis shoes. Home games are generally over by 10:00pm.

2015 Marville Marching Invitational
Please plan on joining us for our third MMI festival on Saturday, Sept. 19th. Click Here for more details and FREE Registration.
