Congratulations to Christopher George (Trumpet) on being selected the All-East 'Blue' Jazz Band, and earning a chance to audition for the Tennessee All-State Jazz Band. In addition, Beth Bogart and Sara Bowden (Trombones) were selected for the 'Red' Band, and Emma Campbell (Bass Trombone) and Julian Gerdeman (Barie Sax) earned seats in the 'White' band. Kudos to Andy Bihl on being named 1st Alternate on Alto Sax.
Congratulations to the Red Rebel Band on your Superior performance at the Alcoa Marching competition on Sept. 27. Strong playing and great soloists again helped us really get the crowd into our show. Congratulations to our Drum Majors, Sara Bowden, Beau Branton, and Mirabella Leonard, on winning the 2nd place trophy in the large band class.
Congratulations to the Red Rebel Band on your performance at the Bradley Classic competition on Sept. 27. Strong playing and great soloists helped us really get the crowd into our show. One more competition to go, so lets continue to 'raise the bar' to make it our strongest performance of the year.
Thanks so much to all who worked countless hours making our 2014 MMI a success. Nothing but positive feedback from participating bands and judges.
On behalf of Mr. Ford and myself, it is a pleasure to work with such a dedicated group of parents and students.
We enjoyed our trip to the WBIR studios for our 'Band of the Week' performance. Here is a bit of footage from WBIR.
Congratulations to Sara Bowden, Beau Branton, and Mirabella Leonard on being selected as MHS Drum Majors for the 2014/15 school year. They were selected from an outstanding group of candidates, and we look forward to their leadership for the coming year.

Congratulations to the MHS Red Rebel Band on earning straight Superior ratings at the ETSBOA State Concert Festival. The band performed 'Symphonic Dance #3, Fiesta' and Johann DeMeijs' 'The Lord of the Rings' for adjudication. (Click here to listen to a .mp3 recording of the performance). Kudos also to the MJHS Band on an outstanding performance playing Grade V music. MJHS was the only non high school group performing at that level of difficulty.

AWAY PLAYOFF GAME vs. Murfreesboro Oakland
MHS will take a pep-band to the semi-final playoff game on Friday, Nov. 28th at Oakland High School in Murfreesboro. The band room will open by 1:30, and we will plan on departing MHS by 2:30. We will stop at Stones River Mall for supper, and should arrive at the game by 6:15 or so. Students are asked to sign up if they are planning on attending the game. Students in Middle Tennessee for the holdays may meet us at the mall or at the game. We will be in full uniform for this game (no hats), so dress accordingly for the weather. We will most likely return to MHS in the wee hours (2am 'ish') Saturday morning. Note that all playoff games begin at 7:00pm.
